Dr David Green is a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at Birmingham Dental Hospital and an Associate Professor in Restorative Dentistry at the University of Birmingham.
Dr Green qualified from Guy's, King's and St Thomas' Dental Institute with Honours and was awarded a number of final year prizes including the Newland Pedley Prize for the top dental student. He completed four years of dental core training including posts in oral & maxillofacial surgery at University College London Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital and a post in restorative dentistry at Eastman Dental Hospital.
He was accepted on to a five-year higher specialty training in restorative dentistry at Birmingham Dental Hospital where he completed his Masters in endodontic research. During this time, he was successful in achieving his Membership in Restorative Dentistry in prosthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons England. Following completion of his registrar training he was appointed as a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry with a sub-focus on the dental rehabilitation of patients with hypodontia.
Dr Green has published many papers in peer reviewed journals and lectured widely in restorative dentistry and is lead for the teaching of restorative dental core trainees in his unit. He is a council member for the British Society of Restorative Dentistry and an examiner for the Overseas Registration Examination. Dr Green is an Associate Professor in Restorative Dentistry at the University of Birmingham and is the programme lead for the MSc in Restorative Dentistry, training post graduate dentists from around the world.
Dr Green's main interest in practice is the long-term care of his patients and their families. His specialist level expertise being in the fields of high-quality restorative treatment, including the treatment of periodontal disease, implant placement and replacement of missing teeth. He also takes referrals for the multidisciplinary management of hypodontia and tooth wear. Where appropriate he works with specialists in other areas including Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics and Endodontics. He is recognised by the General Dental Council as a Specialist in Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry.
